The United Jewish Social Fund–the French equivalent of the United Jewish Appeal–today opened its 1954 campaign for 200,000,000 francs with the slogan “A Community Re-born.”
The 1953 campaign was closed with the collection of 174,000,000 francs, Elide Rothschild, head of the campaign, announced. He added that “this was the best sign that the attempted extermination of French Judaism had failed and that a renaissance was in full swing.”
