A “Committee of Unity” to fight anti-Semitic tendencies in Eastern Europe was organized here tonight at a mass meeting. The committee, with a membership of 100, represents all Jewish groups in France, and is headed by Israel Jefroykin, honorary president of the Federation of Jewish Societies of France.
The committee has set itself the tasks of mobilizing non-Jewish opinion against anti-Semitism in Eastern Europe and of driving Jewish Communists out of organized Jewish life in France. The committee will not set itself up as a political group. Speakers at tonight’s session included Daniel Mayer and Vincent Moro-Giafferi, deputies in the French National Assembly.
