An agreement of affiliation with the World Jewish Congress was unanimously ratified yesterday by the Central Board of Hungarian Jews, the WJC announced here today.
The action of the Central Board represents the completion of the first agreement by the representative body of an Eastern European Jewish community to reestablish formal relations with the Congress since 1949 when the Jewish communities of the Soviet bloc nations “lost touch” with the WJC. A message from Dr. Endre Sos, chairman of the board, Dr. Jenoe Laszlo, secretary, and Chief Rabbi M. Benoschofsky, a member of the executive, extended “greetings, devotion and respect” to the WJC.
