Israeli Jews who fought with the Czechoslovak forces or in the anti-Nazi underground and won medals for heroism decided today to send back their medals to the Czech Government as a protest against the Czechoslovak attitude toward Israel and the decision to break diplomatic relations with Israel over the Arab-Israel war.
The Czechoslovak section of the Israeli Fighters Against the Nazis collected all the medals and will send them back in one package to Prague. Officials of the section told newsmen that it was “a shame” that a government which had suffered under Nazi occupation would defend “a dictator like Nasser whose aggression was proven beyond dispute.” They added that in severing relations with Israel, the Czech Government had proved that it sided with aggressors and did not seek justice.
