Prof. Anselmo Colombo, president of the Jewish community of Rome, today made an unsuccessful plea to Chief of Police Dr. L. Antoniucci against the showing in Rome of the American-made film “The Desert Fox,” which glorifies the late Nazi Field Marshal Rommel.
The Chief of Police expressed understanding of the view of the Jewish community, but said that since the film had been passed he could not revoke its license. He referred the Jewish leader to the office of Premier Alcide de Gasperi, which he said was the only authority that could act in the circumstances.
