The draft of a bill for a new law regulating relations between the Italian State and non-Catholic religious denominations will soon be submitted to the government for its consideration, it was learned today.
A law covering these relationships was foreseen in Article 8 of the Italian Constitution which states that relationships between religious bodies and the state should be regulated on the basis of agreements with the representatives of the denominations concerned.
The lead in preparing the new draft has been taken by Pastor Guglielmo del Pasco, Moderator of the Protestant Waldensian Church and president of the Italian Evangelical Churches. He has invited the Union of Jewish Communities to participate in the drafting work.
