Jews in Morocco Assured by King’s Statement on Religious Freedom

While the official religion of Morocco is Islamic, the Moroccan State guarantees the free exercise of religious worship to all cults and faiths, King Hassan declared here today.

The King made the statement at a press conference at which he reviewed the successful endorsement of his newly proclaimed constitution during the country-wide referendum on December 7. The King’s statement regarding freedom of worship for all faiths was seen here as assurance that the Jewish religion here will be accorded full freedom of practice.
