Jewish voters of the city of Warsaw will go to the polls in the next municipal election, their ranks divided, it appeared today when the effort to create a Jewish bloc failed.
The effort failed because of the disagreement of the various parties over the number of seats to be allotted to each party. Of the twenty-five Jewish aldermen who are to be elected, the Zionists claimed 6, the Agudath Israel 6, the Merchants’ Association 3, the Mizrachi 1. The Voelkist party and the Artisans also claimed larger representation. The hope was expressed that these negotiations will be renewed with a view to effecting a bloc before the elections on May 22.
The assimilationist group will not submit a separate list, it was stated, as the voters of this group will cast their ballots on the Democratic Polish ticket.
