The entire male population of Backingsfeld, Westphalia, except two Jewish men who were not in town, were arrested and taken into “protective custody”. The reason for the arrests was not given.
Seven hundred and twenty-five Jewish doctors, nurses and employes were dismissed from Berlin municipal hospitals in the period between March 15 and October 1, a report by state commissar, Dr. Klein, to the higher authorities, stated. The report also announced that the dismissal of those who are descended from Jews is still continuing.
Among those dismissed were 161 doctors, 320 nurses, 200 laborers, 20 hospital cooks and 24 other employees.
This is the first time that detailed figures on the dismissal of Jews from Berlin municipal hospitals has been announced.
