That Jews fall within the scope of the new universal labor conscription decree which goes into effect July I was acknowledged today by authoritative Nazi quarters. “The law,” it was stated, “affects two classes of German citizens,” the German Jews being rated as second-class citizens. Government sources, however, refuse to confirm or deny that the law actually will be used for drafting Jewish labor. Editorial comment so far studiously avoids use of the word “Jew” in connection with the law and it is believed here that the avoidance is not accidental.
