The burial of Jewish dead is meeting with some difficulty inasmuch as Harbin is now surrounded with a high barbed wire fence, erected against bandits, while the Jewish cemetery is situated in the area outside the fence.

The Jewish Community has petitioned for permission to cut a gate through the fence.

Cholera, which is sweeping through the territory and taking a toll of many lives among the Russians and the Chinese, is affecting the Jews but little.

Thus far only two Jews have succumbed, thanks largely to the prompt measures taken by the Jewish hospitals which arranged for the immediate vaccination of the entire Jewish population, treating more than 1,000 Jews daily.
