The Central Committee arranging the thirteenth German Athletic Festival in Munich this year has issued a public statement dealing with the agitation of the anti-Semites that Jewish participants should not be permitted at the Festival.

The Athletic Union in Austria, it is said, has circulated leaflets to the German Athletic Unions demanding that Jews and foreign athletes should not be permitted to take part in the Festival. Nationalist newspapers have added the threat that if this demand is not carried into effect the German Athletic Festival will not be allowed to go on without disturbances.

All these attempts to introduce discord into the ranks of the German athletic societies will come to nothing in the face of the unity of the 1,600,000 members organized in 1,100 different athletic societies which comprise the German Athletic Union, it is stated.

The German Athletic Festival is not a political demonstration and is therefore no place for controversies and problems which have for centuries agitated the best minds and to which there is no solution yet. The Cetral Committee for the thirteenth German Athletic Festival in Munich decisively rejects therefore all demands of this character.
