Jews of Boston gave $35,000 toward its quota of $200,000 at a meeting on Wednesday evening, April 18, at the Boston Chamber of Commerce at which Prof. Raymond Moley, Editor of “Today” and former Assistant Secretary of State was the guest of honor.
Besides Boston, other Massachusetts cities are in the midst of drives for the United Jewish Appeal.
Five hundred people, including the Mayor and other city officials, ministers of various churches and leading Christian laymen attended a dinner in Lynn on Wednesday evening, April 18, at which $5,000 was subscribed in response to an appeal by Maurice Samuel.
Everett’s opening meeting was addressed by Mayor James A. Roche, Congressman Larson, Rabbi Jacob Freedman of Chelsea, Dr. Frances Burnce and others.
Springfield is moving rapidly toward its campaign objective under the leadership of Louis Henon and Mrs. Nathan Goldstein.
