London newspapers today reported from Madrid that several hundred Jews from occupied Greece, whose ancestors left Spain many generations ago, have reached the French-Spanish frontier in a cattle train.
The Spanish Red Cross, the report said, had to rush immediate aid to the Jews since they had been travelling for several days in sealed cars without any food or water. Many of them were taken from the cars suffering from exhaustion and hunger. All of them reported that they had been mistreated by the Gestapo guards in France.
