Well-informed Jewish circles here have expressed satisfaction with President Hector J. Campora’s inaugural address. They noted that his remark, “We are conscious of pluralism in Argentine society,” was the first statement of its kind ever made by a President of Argentina. The circles have also called attention to the fact that while Campora expressed sympathy for national liberation movements in many parts of the world, including Vietnam, he omitted the Middle East. It is believed in Jewish circles that the omission was deliberate to avoid hurting the feelings of one side or another in that region.
