Prime Minister Eamon de Valera has expressed the belief that the Jews will grow in numbers and strength in Palestine despite the British White Paper, it was disclosed here today. De Valera’s views on the Palestine situation were voiced Saturday during a visit to the Prime Minister’s office in Dublin by Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Jewish National Fund of America.
Dr. Goldstein said that De Valera showed sympathy and understanding for Zionist aspirations. He said that he had conveyed to the Irish leader the impression that American Jews were prepared to shoulder their part of the responsibility for the material, moral and political support of the Jewish National Home and also that the American people as a whole were deeply disappointed by the White Paper and strongly backed the Zionist position.
Dr. Goldstein is conferring with Zionist leaders prior to proceeding to Geneva for the sessions of the 21st biennial World Zionist Congress, which convenes Aug. 16.
