The Jewish National Fund said today that it would resist to the utmost plans by the Israel Land Registry to uproot some 1500 drams of forests near Migdal Haemek to provide land for housing.
Sharon Weitz, head of the JNF’s forestry program said that some 800 dunams of forest planted only nine years ago was slated to be cut down and an additional 700 dunams were marked for cutting at a later date.
Moshe Hovav, director of Israel radio withdrew his resignation and will remain in office another three years, the broadcasting authority announced yesterday.
