The World Advisory Council called on the JNF head office to formulate specific plans to achieve this aim.
The Advisory Council also resolved redevelop and expand world-wide youth participation to assure the leadership of Keren Kayemet in the future. The JNF is currently spending IL 2 million to prepare land for four agricultural settlements in the Gaza-Raffah northern Sinai area, a spokesman said. He said more than 3000 dunams are involved in this work and that physical conditions in the area were particularly difficult.
Shifting dunes need to be stabilized and roads built capable of withstanding sandstorms, the spokesman said. He noted that since the Six-Day War, the JNF had planted some two million trees in the area which act to bind the soil and protect it from wind erosion.
