A contribution of $100,000 from John D. Rockefeller, Jr., to the United Jewish Campaign was received by Mr. Paul Baerwald, treasurer of the campaign, a statement from the headquarters of the campaign declared.

Mr. Rockefeller’s letter accompanying the gift was addressed to Mr. Paul Baerwald, treasurer of the Joint Distribution Committee, and read:

“I have been following with interest the progress of the campaign of the Joint Distribution Committee for the relief of the Jewish people in Poland and Russia, and I noticed the generous response with which the appeal has met. On information which I have sought, the program for the distribution of this fund has been very carefully and wisely worked out.

“In a matter of this kind, there ought to be no barriers of race or creed. Therefore, although my participation in the movement has not been solicited, I hope you will allow me to enclose my check for $100,000 toward the fund, which I do with best wishes for the successful consummation of the campaign.”

Clarence H. Mackay, president of the Postal Telegraph & Cable Company, subscribed $1,000, Bennie Leonard $500 and Lou Tellegen $500 to the United Jewish campaign, according to an announcement made by Acting Chairman David M. Bressler.

The total of the campaign up to Thursday night was $5,787,000, Mr. Bressler stated.

A quarter million dollar increase over the orginal quota of $6,000,000 was voted by the workers at the last rally.

The Amusement Industry Division, through its chairman, Joseph Leblang, announced that Col. Charles Stoneham had donated the Polo Grounds for the Theatrical and Sports Field Day for the benefit of the fund to be held on Sunday, June 27th.

A program in which hundreds of actors and actresses, baseball players, pugilists and athletes will participate is being arranged.

One of the features is a baseball game which will be umpired by Daniel Frohman, Abraham I. Erlanger, Jacob J. Shubert, Wm. A. Brady, Sam Harris and William Fox. Another feature will be a boxing-match between Bennie Leonard and Al Jolson.

Al Jolson is chairman of a committee to secure performers. The other members of the committee are: Bennie Leonard. George M. Cohan, Louis Mann, Sam H. Harris, Al H. Woods, E. F. Albee and William Morris.

Boxes will be sold at $100 each; grand-stand seats $2 and bleachet scats $1.
