President Johnson signed into law here today the Administration’s $1,300,000,000 aid-to-education bill which, among other things, provides governmental aid to parochial schools. Among the provisions of the act are the following:
1) It allocates $100,000,000 to public and private schools including Jewish, Catholic and Protestant parochial schools, for textbooks and library materials; 2) Under the program of supplementary education centers, it makes available another $100,000 for remedial instruction, teaching machines, laboratory equipment as well as teaching and other services to non-profit private schools as well as to public schools; 3) It authorizes “dual enrollment” or “shared-time” arrangements.
