A fervent plea to President Johnson to use his prestige and persuasive power to bring to a roundtable conference Israel and the Arab countries to find means to reduce tension and ultimately lead to peace in that area was voiced tonight at the opening session of the 57th annual convention here of the Religious Zionists of America. More than 600 delegates from every part of the United States unanimously adopted a resolution which said in part:

“In view of recent events in the Middle East and the resultant one-sided United Nations censure of Israel, with implied future sanctions, the Arab countries now have an open invitation to provoke Israel to further retaliatory attacks. It is therefore incumbent on the major powers in general and the United States in particular to intervene immediately to remove the possibility of a conflagration in the Middle East, President Johnson, who is renowned for his persuasive ability, should take the lead in bringing the Arab and Israeli leaders together to discuss possibilities of lessening tension in that explosive area.”

Rabbi David Hill, chairman of the convention, in opening the session, expressed concern over the resurgence of the neo-Nazi party in Germany. He called on the West German Government to ban all Nazi-type activities, parties and publications in West Germany.
