A joint Anglo-American statement on Palestine will be issued tomorrow simultaneously in Washington and in London as a result of the Truman-Attlee discussions here, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today.
It is understood that the statement will suggest only a temporary solution of the Palestine immigration problem. It was indicated that it will provide for the creation of an Anglo-American commission of inquiry, coupled with a proposal for 1,500 Jews to be admitted to Palestine monthly on a temporary basis until final arrangements can be made. It was also indicated that the entire matter of Palestine’s future will be referred to the United Nations Organization for ultimate disposition.
(In Jerusalem, Acting High Commissioner John V. M. Shaw invited twelve representatives of the Jewish Agency and representatives of Arab parties to call upon him tomorrow at three o’clock, when, it is believed, he will present to them the British Government’s statement of policy on Palestine.)
