The Jerusalem Post reported that Israel was the first nation permitted to participate in French naval operational tactics exercises.
According to the report, Israel naval units won the esteem of French officers, who emphasized that Israel performances compared favorably with that of French navy standards. Israel officers, returning from the maneuvers, expressed confidence they could deal with Egyptian submarines successfully.
