A joint membership drive, in which all the reform Jewish organizations in the Long Island area will participate, will begin. August 15 and continue until October 1.
According to the plans outlined by Rabbi Jacob B. Pollak, regional rabbi of the North East Religious Union, there will be no proselytizing. Prospects approached who state their preference for orthodox or conservative congregations will be directed to synagogues representing their beliefs. The congregations participating in the drive are: Temple Israel of Jamaica, Sidney A. Reiss, president; Aaron L. Weinstein, rabbi. Temple Israel of Lawrence, J. Nathan Helfat, president; William B. Schwartz. Flushing Free Synagogue, Philip Goldfarb, president. Max Meyer, rabbi.
