Funeral services were held here today for Jonah Rosenfeld, noted Jewish writer, who died yesterday at his home at the age of 64. He had been a member of the editorial staff of the Jewish Daily Forward since his arrival in this country in 1921.
Born in Chartorisk, in the Ukraine, he was a woodworker during his early youth. At the age of 23 he published his first short story on artisan life which attracted attention in literary circles. Since 1905 he had devoted himself entirely to literary work. One of his plays “The Rivals” attained unusual popularity at the Yiddish Art Theatre in New York in 1922.
