A frontier agreement reached two weeks ago between Jordan and Israeli commanders in the southern area of Palestine, covering the territory north of gridline 125 on the area map, which is about eight kilometers south of Jerusalem, was extended today to the whole southern area for a two-month period. The new agreement was signed at a meeting of the commanders under the auspices of the Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission.
The Syrian Government has asked Iraq to withdraw Iraqi troops sent to Syria’s aid during the recent fighting in the demilitarized zone of the Huleh marsh area in Israel, it was announced today in a broadcast of the Beirut radio monitored here. The announcer said that the Syrian request had been made because the situation on the border has quieted down.
