Jordan may agree to Israel’s proposal that high level talks be held between the two states to eliminate border tension, it was indicated in informed quarters today after Jordan representatives had consented in principle to such talks during negotiations to halt infiltration.
It was also learned that representatives of the major powers have expressed satisfaction at Israel’s initiative in the matter. Gen. William E. Riley, United Nations truce chief, will leave here Thursday after his successor; Danish Maj. Gen. Vagn Bennike arrives.
