The chairman of the Israeli-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission declared yesterday after an eight-hour MAC meeting that Jordan was taking preventive action against El Fatah raiders operating from Jordanian bases against Israel. The chairman’s statement was not contradicted by the Jordanian delegate who attended the session.
Members of the new Arab terrorist group have made a number of attacks on Israeli settlements, blowing up storage buildings and water towers. Israel countered with a punitive raid into Jordan against three of the staging areas. Organized by Syria, the Fatah commandos were using Jordanian bases, according to Israeli officials.
