Jordanian artillery opened fire on Israeli positions on the West Bank and in the Jordan Valley area three times today. Their guns were silenced by Israeli return fire and no casualties were suffered, a military spokesman reported.
The Jordanians first opened fire about ten miles north of the Damiya Bridge, precipitating an exchange with Israeli artillery that lasted 45 minutes. The Jordanians resumed firing in the same area two hours later, starting an artillery duel that lasted two hours. This afternoon, Jordanians fired on civilian workers in the fields of Kibbutz Maoz Chaim in the Jordan Valley. Again, Israeli return fire silenced the Jordanian guns.
