A 30-minute exchange of fire took place near the Damiyah Bridge where Jordanian units began shelling Israeli positions last night after a 24-hour hiatus. Israelis returned the fire and reported no casualties. A military spokesman attributed the relatively long period of quiet to Jordanian interest in the American election returns. They resumed firing as soon as the election results were known, he said.
