Funeral services were held here yesterday for Joseph Achron, noted Jewish composer and violinist, who died here at the age of 57 on Thursday.
Mr. Achron, who was born in Russia, gave his first program when he was 8 years old. He came to this country in 1925. His first violin concerto was first performed by the composer with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Serge Kousevitzky. Mr. Achron’s “Hebrew Melody,” “Hebrew Musie,” and “Stimmung” were performed and recorded by Jascha Heifetz.
