Joseph Andre, the Roman Catholic priest who saved the lives of countless Jewish children in Nazi-occupied Belgium, died here today at the age of 65. He was founder of the “Our Lady of Zion Refuge” in Namur, which Jewish children called “The Home of the Angel.” In 1968, Father Andre was honored by the Yad Vashem in Jerusalem and in 1969 was invited to New York by the United Jewish Appeal. A frequent visitor to Israel, Father Andre participated regularly in pro-Israeli activities in Belgium.
