Joseph Antignac, secretary-general of the Commissariat for Jewish Affairs during the Vichy regime, who was charged with a long list of anti-Jewish activities, was sentenced to death today, five days after the opening of his trial here. M. Antignac testified that he accepted the post of secretary-general “only to prevent the worst” for the Jews.
