Funeral services will be held here tomorrow for Joseph F. Barr, past national commander of the Jewish War Veterans of America, who died Friday at the age of 65. An attorney, he was Associate General Counsel of the Veterans Administration and, until last February 1, executive director of the JWV.
He received his law degree at Boston University and served in World War I. He was elected national JWV commander in 1954 and served through 1955. He was named executive director in 1959. He served on the boards of the National Conference of Christians and Jews and the National Community Relations Advisory Council. He was a founder of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington and served as chairman of the Washington unit of the Jewish Welfare Board.
