Joseph Fineberg, a member of the Chief Concessions Committee of the Soviet Government, met his death under tragic circumstances in New Gagry, a sea-town in Georgia, Caucasus. M. Fineberg disappeared on Sunday, July 4th, and his body was thrown up by the tide the next day. The cause of his death is not known, but suicide was suspected.
The Young Men’s, Young Women’s Hebrew Association of Philadelphia has named a special Committee to appoint a new Executive Secretary for the institution.
The post is made vacant by the resignation of Jacob N. Sokohl, who was the director of “Y” activity for a number of years previous to its removal to new quarters at Broad, and Pine Streets.
The following Committee will consider the applicants to the post: Elkan Henly, Chairman; Leon J. Obermayer, formerly President of the “Y”; Miss Bertha J. Silverman, President of the Young Women’s Association, and Henry W. Braude, President of the “Y”, ex-officio.
