Joseph Fuchs, Polish Jewish soldier, who fought gallantly in the Polish insurrection of 1863, died here today. He was 94 years old. He was a member of the secret revolutionary council which directed the insurrection together with the Polish priest Stachewicz. He participated in practically every major engagement of the revolt.
On one occasion he was captured by Cossacks who wanted to hang him, but Fuchs escaped from the Russian troops. When Poland became an independent nation, Fuchs was pensioned by the government.
