The “Gospel of Joseph of Jerusalem”, an apocryphic book alleged to have been found recently, has proven to be a forgery, a statement issued by the Italian Ministry of Education declares. The document, consisting of 30 pages on parchment, was requisitioned by the Italian government from a Milan city-official, Luigi Maccia, who claims to have obtained it in 1919 from a Jewish refugee, a resident of Jerusalem.
It was stated here that the manuscript had been offered to Henry Ford at a price of £400,000.
