Joseph Margoshes, dean of Yiddish journalists in the United States, died today at his home here, aged 89. He had worked at his writing for the Day-Morning Journal until the very end.
Born in Galicia in 1866, Mr. Margoshes first came to the United States in 1898. He returned to Europe but came back here again in 1903 and became a correspondent for various Yiddish newspapers. Later he was associated with the Bureau of Jewish Education and the Jewish Communal Register. He joined the staff of the Morning Journal in 1921. He is survived by two sons well known in Yiddish journalism, Dr. Samuel Margoshes and Herman Morgenstern.
