Joshua Heschel Farbstein, one of the outstanding leaders of Polish Zionism, and a former member of the Jewish Agency Executive, died |here last night. He was 78 years old.
Born in Warsaw, he participated in the establishment of the Tarbuth school system in Warsaw and founded a rabbinical seminary there. He attended the First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, and was one of the founders and president of the Mizrachi. He was active in the Polish Jewish Congress and an alderman of Warsaw, A member of the Mizrachi world Central Committee, he settled in Jerusalem in 1932, where he became a member of the World Zionist Executive and in 1941 he was elected president of the Jerusalem Jewish community.
