An Israeli journalist who travelled to Amman last March to cover the meeting of the Palestine National Council for Yediot Achronot was yesterday convicted of violating laws prohibiting Israelis from travelling to countries at war with Israel.
Amnon Kapeliuk, who holds dual Israeli and French citizenship, used his French passport to travel to Amman. He pleaded guilty to the charges in a plea bargain arrangement with the court. He faces a maximum penalty of a year in prison although his lawyers said they will request a fine be imposed rather than a prison sentence.
