Three North Carolina newspapermen who helped expose the Ku Klun in their state and whose work resulted in the conviction of 100 Klansmen yesterday received Sidney Hillman awards for 1952.
The three are: Jay Jenitins, special writer for the Releigh News and Observer; Willard Cole, editor of the Whiteville News Reporter; and W. Horace Carter, editor of the Tabor City Tribune. The Whiteville and Tabor City papers was Pulitzer prizes last month for their and-KKK campaigns.
