Journalist’s Wife is Vienna Suicide

The American colony here was shocked by an attempted murder and suicide which took place in the family of Leon Schalit, an American newspaper correspondent here and translator of John Galsworthy’s works into German.

Mrs. Schalit, who had been divorced from her husband and lived with her child, early this morning shot the three-year-old son and then committed suicide. The child was taken to the hospital in a critical condition.

Leon Schalit is the Vienna correspondent of the Jewish Morning Journal, a daily newspaper published in New York.
