Judge Alfred H. Kleiman, of the City’s Criminal Court, announced that 40 judges of the court signed an appeal to the government of the Soviet Union to grant amnesty to the “Jewish Prisoners of Conscience” presently imprisoned in the USSR, Among the signers of the petition are Judge E. Leo Milonas, Supervising Judge of the Criminal Court, New York County; and Judge M. Marvin Berger, president of the Association of Judges of the Criminal Court. The amnesty appeal notes “with dismay the injustices suffered by Soviet Jews” and calls on the leaders of the Soviet Union to release the POCs “and to allow them to be reunited with their families in Israel.”
