Judge Anna Moscowitz Kross has been named chairman of patronesses for the Ussishkin Tribute Dinner, to be held May 2 at the Astor Hotel, it was announced yesterday by Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, and Louis P. Rocker, chairman of the city-wide dinner committee. Judge Kross is an outstanding leader in Jewish women’s activities in behalf of Palestine projects.
The dinner, climax of a drive to raise New York Jewry’s share of a $100,000 fund for the establishment in Palestine of a colony in the name of Menahem Ussishkin, veteran Zionist leader, is expected to attract a capacity attendance. Reservations are being made at $50 a couple, the equivalent of one quarter acre of land in Palestine.
The dinner committee includes such notables as: Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Governor Herbert H. Lehman, Abraham F. Wechsler, Honorable Bernar S. Deutsch, Judge Alfred Frankenthaler, Judge Otto A. Rosalsky, Senator Robert F. Wagner and Honorable Nelson Ruttenberg, chairman of the sponsors committee. Patronesses include Mrs. Israel Goldstein, Mrs. Louis I. Barst, Mrs. Nathan D. Pearlman and other prominent women.
