Judge Harry K. Stone, jurist, business executive and philanthropist, died here yesterday at the age of 72. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services will be held here tomorrow. He was the brother of Dr. Dewey D. Stone, nationally known Jewish leader and former chairman of the United Israel Appeal.
The recipient of honorary degrees from Boston University and Stonehill College. Judge Stone, who had served for more than 30 years as a life member of the Plymouth County Probate Court, was one of only nine associate founders of Boston University, to be elected in the University’s 100 years. He had served as a vice-president of the New England Zionist District, and had been a sponsor and underwriter of the Charm S. Cowan Student Art Rental Program at Brandeis University, where he had served as a member of the board of trustees. With his brother, Dewey D. Stone, he had been an active supporter of the Weizmann Institute at Rehoboth. The Boston University Stone Science Building cornerstone is a duplicate of the cornerstone of the Weizmann Institute building. The science building was a gift of the Stone brothers.
Judge Stone was a member of the board of trustees of Stonewall College. He was honorary Consul General of Nicaragua and held the rank of Chevalier in the French Legion of Honor.
