Judge Jacob S. Strahl, a veteran Zionist and founder of the Keren Hayesod, died here yesterday at the age of 88. A municipal court judge for 40 years, he held the record for the longest service in the New York City courts.
Born in New York City, Judge Strahl was the first chairman of the American Jewish Congress and, along with the late Israeli president Chaim Weizmann, he introduced the Keren Hayesod into the United States in 1922. He served for many years as president of the Zionist Organization of America and was a founder of the Palestine Chamber of Commerce.
