The receipt of a donation of $2,000 from Judge and Mrs. Irving Lehman to the $1,000,000 New York quota of the national $2,500,000 campaign of the Joint Distribution Committee was announced yesterday by Albert Ottinger, chairman of the New York campaign. Mr. Ottinger also made public a gift of $100 from Bishop William T. Manning, which was brought to headquarters by Assemblyman Saul S. Streit, chairman of the West Side Committee. Mr. Ottinger reported new donations totalling $14,000.

Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, chairman of the national campaign, yesterday stated that a large number of Jewish communities are planning intensive drives for the campaign beginning early in the fall. In response to an appeal by him for immediate cash to be dispatched abroad, many committees are now remitting checks and others are staging campaigns during the summer months, he said.
