Judge William M. Lewis, a leader in Zionism and in Jewish communal activities, died this morning of a sudden heart attack. He was 54. Judge Lewis was vice-president of the Zionist Organization of America, chairman of its administrative committee and vice-chairman of the United Palestine Appeal. He had also been a member of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee and was at one time a member of the administrative committee of the American Jewish Congress, to whose first convention he was a delegate as the then grandmaster of the Independent Order B’rith Sholom. A delegation of Zionist leaders, including Morris Margulies, Louis Lipsky and Abraham Goldberg, is expected to come here on Wednesday for Judge Lewis’s funeral.
