A private funeral was held yesterday for Julien Samuel, the former director general of the Fonds Social Juif Unifie and founder of the United Jewish Appeal of France, who died last week at the age of 67. Samuel, who was a member of the resistance movement during World War II, helped French Jewry to reestablish itself in the post-war years.
There will be no Bulletin dated Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, due to Rosh Hashanah.
