Juniors Gird Loins in Federation Drive

The Junior Federation of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities will open its campaign to make up its $7,500 quota in the parent organization’s twenty-fifth anniversary campaign for $500,000 with a general membership meeting tomorrow night.

The meeting will be held at the Temple Ahavath Sholom of Flatbush, Avenue R and East 16th street, beginning at 8:30 o’clock. Stuart M. Miller, chairman of the Junior group drive, will preside and tell of the Junior’s plans to secure money.

County Judge Algernon I. Nova, chairman of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities’ campaign, will outline the purposes of the campaign and urge that every member of the Junior unit take part in the endeavor to raise funds toward the $500,000 needed.

SAMUEL WEINBERG SPEAKING

Samuel Weinberg will describe the activities of the First Hebrew Day Nursery and Neighborhood House, an affiliate of the Federation, where 10,642 children were cared for during 1934 while their parents were working.

Mr. Miller last night announced the Junior Federation campaign committee, as follows:

Stuart M. Miller, general chairman; Miss Adeline Levy, vice-chairman; Mrs. Evelyn R. Blumenau, secretary.

Rummage Sale—Miss Muriel Ratzan, chairman; Mrs. D’L. Lefkowitz, vice-chairman; Mrs. Carolyn S. Steinbrink, secretary-treasurer.

Dance—Samuel Weinberg, chairman; Miss Cynthia Shapiro, vice-chairman; Miss Irene Menczer, secretary.

General Solicitation—Ben Heller, chairman; Sam Saltz, vice-chairman; Miss Hannah Goldfarb, secretary.

District Bridges—Nat Coen, chairman; Miss Grace Straim, vice-chairman; Miss Elizabeth Konogy, secretary.

District Bridge Chairman—Eastern Parkway, Miss Helen Kline; Flatbush, Miss Rosalyn Waldbaum; Boro Park, Miss Gertrude Streifer; Bensonhurst, Miss Dorothy Teitlebaum; East New York, Miss Florence Eisenstadt; Williamsburg, Miss Irma Widder; Manhattan Beach, Miss Florence Cohen.

2,000 MEMBERS

The Junior Federation comprises nearly two thousand young people in all sections of the borough, and practically the entire membership participates throughout the year in the numerous activities of the group. All members are enlisted for practical philanthropic and communal work and hundreds of them are engaged daily in these duties.
